WebNap allows you to search and download songs from any of the
Opennap/MyNapster and other Napster-compatible servers.
Login with your username and password. If you are using this for the
first time, just try some username/password pair. If that username is
not taken, it will log you in. Remember that this program sends
your username and password in the clear across the internet. So it
is STRONGLY recommended that you use a password that doesn't jeopardize the
safety and security of your other online accounts.
Enter one or more search keywords separated by spaces.
Select a server you want to search on from the drop-down list.
You may also select more advanced search options:
Speed: Search only for songs that are available from users with a
certain connection speed. (eg. "AT LEAST" "Cable")
Max Results: Limit the search results to a specified number.
Firewall filter: Find out which users are behind a
firewall. This option marks those users in red and a surrounding
square bracket (eg. [bigjoe]) on the search
results page. The reason for using this option is that WebNap
only allows a fixed number of simultaneous downloads from people
behind a firewall to prevent excessive load on the WebNap web server.
If you happen to get an error message that says "WebNap has reached
the MAX firewall download limit", just try your request again.
Note: the firewall filter takes a long time, so it is advised (for quick
results) that you limit your Max Results to about 10 or fewer.
Server Statistics: allows you to get a real-time status of
all the servers. Use this to choose the most active server.
Queue: shows you the list of songs you intend to transfer
directly to your online storage lockers like Myplay/I-drive/Freedrive.
Results: when you click on "Go", you get back your search
results. By default, the results are sorted by connection "speed". You
can re-sort your search results by "Title", "Size", "Time", "Bitrate",
"Frequency" or "Nick" (user) by clicking on the corresponding link in
the table header.
Browse user's files: click on a username on the search results
page to browse all the files shared by that user.
